3 Keys To Referral Marketing Success

Hey, These Three Keys can change your business and I wanted to give you all the detials!

There are three key elements to getting all the referrals you can handle…

  1. You need to have a large network of people who know you and understand what you do.  This involves putting yourself in front of a lot of people, meeting them and letting them know what you do.
  2. You need to have a warm relationship with this network of people.  It’s not enough to have a large network of folks who know you and understand what you do.  People will always refer those people with whom they have a relationship.  The relationships you have with your group will be the key in any type of business endeavor and these relationships will be the thing that always wins out in the end.  It is the critical element in your success.
  3. You must have a system to manage these relationships.  It’s not enough to TRY and manage the relationships ourselves because we all have limits on the amount of time we have to build rapport, confidence and trust.  You can only talk to so many people on the phone, you can only go to lunch with so many people and you can only meet so many people and shake their hands.  Consider this acronym, SYSTEM = Save – Yourself – Some – Time – Energy – & Money!  Any millionaire will tell you that they have the ability to leverage their time using either system, employees or through outsourcing.  That’s what systems do for you…

Any good referral system will produce, as their primary function, predictable results. That means you’re always going to know that by doing activity AB & C you will produce XY & Z results and these results will be predictable in month one, two, four, twelve and sixty.  So, a good reliable referral system will be able to produce results over a consistent period of time and those results should be repeatable.

When I talk to business owners I’m always curious about how they get most of their business.  About 80% of the folks say they get their business from word-of-mouth.  This is worrisome because no one can tell me the system that they have in place to generate these word-of-mouth referrals.

The difference between word-of-mouth and a referral system is that word-of-mouth happens by chance. It just so happens that one person had a need for a particular service and the other person had a good experience with a service provider and he speaks up about the product or service.  That does not happen on a regular basis.  It doesn’t produce and will never produce predictable, consistent, repeatable results.

So which one would you rather have?  Word of mouth referrals or referrals coming from a referral system?  Of course, systems.  Without a referral system, you will never fully realize the full potential of the amount of referrals that you can receive in your small business. Any small business owner needs to have a systematic referral system process in which to generate referrals.
